Welcome to the last month of the school year! We are excited and sad to see it arrive. Some of our friends will be staying home for the summer and others will be in the Bug-A-Boo Camp with Mrs. Nesrin.

Our theme for May will be flowers! You’ll see our room bloom with the crafts we have planned. We will continue reviewing our letters and numbers and practicing our names.

Please remember our Loaves and Fishes Clothing Drive as you put away those chilly day garments and pull out the warm weather ones. Many families need our help to clothe their young children.

We had such a good time making our birds for the art show. Aren’t they all beautiful!

Happy Mothers’ Day on May 11. Thank you!

Miss Jennet

Pre-K Extended Day

Mrs. Kirsten Freeman Left Arrow: Look who got married!

May has finally arrived and we are in the home stretch! The trees and grass have grown and the children call it our “new grass.” We enjoy our outdoor play during these beautiful spring days.

We have added two new friends this month – Jordan and Avery. Welcome, guys!

Remember, because of increased enrollment, we have split the extended day into threes and fours. Ms. Nesrin naps and leads the threes in their room (room 2) and the fours are in room 3 for nap and extended day. Thanks for your cooperation.

The children are already excited about kindergarten! They are recognizing letters, numbers, words, and some have already showed other reading skills. They have accomplished so much this year and we are very proud of them.

I would like to thank you, the parents and guardians of these precious little ones, for your interest, your encouragement, and your joy with the children when they come home with new achievements.

Each child participated in an art show this month. Some have natural abilities in art while others are more gifted in different areas. Each class had four unbiased parent judges from other classes. The children’s names were hidden and we recognized all of the children for the work they did. Looking back to their work at the beginning of the year, we marvel at the accomplishments they have made.

We will be polishing the skills learned during the year as we review. We will also be concentrating on following directions. You can help at home by giving directions at home and helping them follow through on the directions you give. They should be able to listen and follow a sequence of at least three directives.

We’ve got some fun projects planned for May. Our last day is May 30. Graduation is that evening at 6 p.m. Look on the front page of this paper for instructions.

Thank you for the privilege of teaching your child. May God bless you and your children through all the days of your life.

Mrs. Bond

Mrs. Mead

“Duck Tales” is published by Triple D’s Christian Academy once monthly.  Assistant Principal Cheryl Stacey is the editor.  Please call the school for further information about school activities.

VPK4B

Mrs. Hawks & Mrs. Miller

The end of the school year is upon us. We are learning about butterflies and their stages of growth. We are also memorizing our phone numbers and addresses. Please print your phone number and address on a note and give it to one of the teachers.

The children really enjoyed having the animal shelter come out and talk about how to take care of animals. We also learned about protecting ourselves from wild animals. Thank you for giving your old towels. They really appreciated them.

We are finishing our letters and will continue with our numbers. Please keep reinforcing learning the letters and their sounds with your child.

We are learning about the word Kindergarten. We will be visiting Mrs. Nicholas’ kindergarten class.

Thank you for sending HEALTHY snacks to school.

Thank you for all you do!

Mrs. Hawks

Mrs. Miller

Our school enjoyed a visit from Officer Vinson of the Escambia County Animal Shelter. She talked to us about caring for our pets and what to do if we find wild animals like squirrels, possums, and raccoons. She brought baby squirrels and possums for us to look at.

Mrs. Nicholas & Miss Kirsten

What a great time we had preparing for our Art Show. Our artists are all very creative! We are happy to announce Olivia Cutshaw as our 1 st place winner in our art show.

Congratulations to all our readers! Some of our students will begin 1 st grade readers this month.

Our May science plans include learning about sight, sound, and optical allusions. In social studies, we will be learning about the continents of the earth.

Our Bible focus has been on the love of Jesus and the fruits of the spirit. We then gave ourselves to community service by making cards for an elderly man who is in physical rehabilitation who had surgery and has no family in the area. We took time out of our busy schedule to travel across town to the Health Center of Pensacola. We also visited a sister of one of our staff who lives there. We learned that there are people who help others by taking care of them when they are sick or can’t take care of themselves.

Congratulations to our Assistant Teacher – the new Mrs. Kirsten Freeman. She and Sam got married on April 19 and she is still beaming with happiness.

April Goals & Challenges

May is promising to bring excitement and closure to a successful year. Our children have grown in “wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man,” just as Jesus grew (Luke 2:52).

We have learned so much! Our reading, math, and writing skills are practiced daily and show great improvement and mastery. Our language skills are applied to reading comprehension and writing to help us be better readers and writers. We are studying science and social studies concepts that help us understand our world. We are learning Bible stories and passages that help us better understand God’s Word.

Our class is a community of individual learners. Each child is gifted in different ways and contributes to the class as God has blessed him or her. The progress made this year will be built upon for years to come, and help mold each child to be all God planned for him or her to be.

As we complete our year, our prayer is that each child will learn this lesson: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

After-School Program

We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Ariel Holcomb to our After-School Program Staff. Mrs. Holcomb is an experienced teacher who has moved to Pensacola from Virginia with her husband who is in flight school. We also are blessed to have Mr. Jim McIntyre work with us each day. Besides being a great bus driver, he loves to spend time with the students, helping them learn the Bible and enjoy their day.

Everyone is deserving of the “Student of the Month” award for cooperating and supporting the transition to new after school staff. Thank you, too, parents for your understanding and support.

Miss Jennet Zaborny, After-School Director
